MP 27

The MP 27 was the first MP boat to be produced in series. All MP boats are still in use, with one exception. One boat, unfortunately burnt in its winter dockyard.

The lines of the MP 27 boat are classically beautiful and inspired by the IOR standard of their time. The design language is close to S&S boats of the same age, although in a slightly smaller size. A wooden mast makes it easier to find in the harbor.

The interiors are quite spacious considering the age of the boat and you can sleep in the sea/storm -bed as well. However, there are slight differences in the interiors, as the boats were delivered half finished and each of owners made their boat interior by them self.

Most of the MP boats have been manufactured by Länsivene Oy by “cross-laminate” wooden strips, so they are not actual wooden plank boats. The hull structure is stronger and stiffer than a traditional wooden made boat. Material is also lifeless, so the need for maintenance is as limited as the plastic boat. Compared to a plastic / fiberglass boat, the structure is stiffer and more insulating (responsible for sandwich structures). The body’s moisture behavior is more comfortable and condensation water does not condense on surfaces. The boat smells nice, too, like a fine Cuban cigar box. Even repairing the structure is not difficult.
